 專訪 國際盤髮大師 Patrick Cameron

Q 你是怎麼開始長髮盤髮？
How did you start Long hairdressing?

我於1987年在我的家鄉紐西蘭培訓之後就移居倫敦。我當時的計劃並沒有打算專門於長髮盤髮，只是希望能在倫敦獲得更多的經驗。然而，當我在一間知名沙龍做設計師並到達藝術總監的位置時，在那裡我意識到，設計盤髮並不是設計師那麼上手並常會接觸的東西。然而，卻有大量的客戶對這項服務的需求，像是婚禮或聚會。我開始教盤髮並列入為教學大綱的一部分。威娜產品公司看到我幾次的教學後，他們要求我為他們做一些研習會。而就這樣的，一切從此開始的。
I moved to London in 1987 after training in my home town in New Zealand. My plan wasnt to specialize in the dressing of long hair but to simply gain more experience in London. However, when I arrived I managed to get a job as a stylist at a well known salon before being offered a position as Artistic Director for a large salon group. It was there that I realized that the dressing of long hair was not something hairdressers did so much. Yet there were plenty of clients asking for this service either for weddings or parties. I started to teach long hairdressing as part of the syllabus. The product company Wella saw me perform long hair classes on a few occasions and they asked me to do some seminars for them. It all started there really.

Q 盤髮和其他美髮技術有什麼不同之處？
How is long hairdressing different from other hair techniques?

這是非常不同的，而很多設計師並沒有對盤髮的技能有明確的概念，不像是剪髮和染髮，那些他們工作生活的每一天都會接觸到。而至今仍然讓我感到吃驚的是有許多設計師對盤髮是逃避的心態。這是一個被遺忘的藝術，我看到我的工作使命就是化解大家對盤髮的恐懼。
Its very different as most hairdressers dont have many long hair skills they can call on, unlike cutting and coloring which they do every day of their working life. It still amazes me that many hairdressers are frightened of long hair dressing. Its a forgotten art and I see it as my job to take the fear out of dressing long hair.
 

Q 在做盤髮造型時什麼是你不能沒有的工具/設備？
What are some tools/equipment you cant live without when doing long hairdressing?

Q 你的靈感是從哪裡來的？
Where did you get your inspiration from?

創造力是無窮的，如果你能遵循一個簡單的規則。傳授出你所知的知識，這樣你才會有更多的空間來發展新的思路和創新。我有幸的參觀過很多地方，如俄羅斯、所有歐洲國家、美國、亞洲和遠東，當然還有我的祖國紐西蘭 - 這提供了我眾多的靈感。我對原住民的傳統很感興趣，我再融合上一些街頭時尚和高級時裝的元素，共同創造出添加了現代的變化的經典盤髮造型。所以我的靈感是來自甚廣的觸角。
Creativity is endless if you follow one simple rule . Give away the knowledge you already know to create more room for new ideas . I am lucky enough to visit a wide variety of places such as Russia, all European countries, the USA, Asia and the Far East and of course my native New Zealand – this provides so much inspiration. Im intrigued by native traditions, I then fuse this together with street fashion and a touch of haute couture to create classic long hair looks with a contemporary twist. My inspiration can come from far and wide. 

Q 在時尚名人中誰是你的最喜愛，為什麼呢？
Who is your favorite celebrity in terms of fashion and why?

此刻，我最愛的是歌手Adele阿黛爾。我覺得她的性感和迷人來自於她自我的認知，而不會迎合時尚流行而改變。
At the moment I am loving the singer Adele . I think shes sexy and glamorous but she doesnt conform to the shape of how fashion thinks she should look.

Q 你對那些想提高盤髮技術的設計師們，有什麼建議呢？
What are your advices to hairdressers who also want to improve their techniques on long hairdressing?

先放輕鬆，在由我的許多眾多的盤髮造型中的一款開始良好的基礎，然後選擇合適的工具就開始創造吧！
記住你是“美髮師”，這意味著你應該知道如何去打伴出你要的造型。我有一系統一步一步的教學書籍和DVD，跟著我的方法。如果你能和看剪髮一步一步的DVD做學習，相信盤髮一樣不會是難事並且容易得多。
Just relax, start with a good base from one of my many styles, get the right tools and create !
Remember you are "HAIRDRESSERS" which means you should know how to dress hair. I have a catalogue of step-by-step educational books and DVDs which teach my methods. If you approach long hairdressing the same way you approach cutting step-by-step it really is so much easier

Q 在對不同的頭髮紋理或顏色盤髮時，有什麼是點注意的呢？
What are some points to beware when doing long hairdressing on different hair textures or colours?

全部都是事先“準備”。如果你頭髮在事前準備了正確的產品，然後這樣你就能建立正確的基礎準備工作。
It really is down to preparation. If you prepare the hair with the correct products you then create the right foundation to work with.

Q 該業界啟發你最多的是誰，為什麼呢？
Who inspires you the most in the industry and why?

當然，我都在注意我同期的人正在做什麼，我現在比以往任何時候都喜歡看長美髮。我們都互相學習，這就是我們這個行業最棒的地方。任何以身為設計師而驕傲的人都是能激勵並啟發我的人。
Of course I do take notice of what my peers are doing and I love to see that long hairdressing is more apparent now than its ever been. We all learn from each other and that is what is great about our industry. Anyone who is proud of being a hairdresser inspires me.
